I live in the bay area and training for my first marathon. I have been an asthmatic for a long time. So, the thought of participating in an endurance event was unimaginable. I am glad that I got started on this journey because it is helping me regain my athletic confidence, helping building my physical & mental endurance and being part of "Team in Training" makes it fun along the way. But, please consult your doctor before you start off training for such an endurance event.
Every rookie who starts off has one question on their mind "Am I crazy to be training for a marathon? Can I really do it?". All I can say is, I am training with people from diverse backgrounds, varying physical abilities and all walks of life and I believe that all of us will cross that finish line come "event day". I will be very proud of myself and my team the day we cross that finish line and we can all cross off the item "completed a marathon" from our lists. Who knows, we might just get motivated and start training for the next marathon...
